AB AB STRACT The Integrated Geological Database Management System is the foundation for carrying out researches of special topics，which offers an uniform and standard platform for tasks of researching，prospecting， mining and informationization and makes these tasks finished more quickly and efficiently．According to the characteristics and objective of the tasks，desired data view and source from the Integrated Geological Database is a good selection． The basic characteristic of UML(Uni fied Modeling Language)， mechanism of system modeling and related knowledge of software development technique are discussed in the paper．Based on the characteristics of Integrated Geological Database Management System，a three—layer distributed system is advanced which is based on B／S architecture including display layer,logic operation layer and data layer, and a network structure is planed in detail．And they are designed using UML such as class diagram，use case diagram，package diagram and sequence diagram，etc，and models for system analysis． After system analysis，the structure and function modules are confirmed，and a detailed design for business layer,data layer and database is made．Furthermore a friendly,beauty and distinctive user interface is designed based on principle of interface designing． Based Based on the obj ect—oriented programming idea，the paper,using ADO．NET data accessing technique，C撑programme language and Microsoft Visual Studio．NET technique platform，develops an integrated geological database manage system is developed to realize functions such as system catalog class management，map management，document management，table management and system management，etc． Furthermore，different rights of accessing and operating al e set for di fferent people to guarantee security in system is tight． Key Words： integrated geological database，management system，UML， system model ing 原创性声明本人声明，所呈交的学位论文是本人在导师指导下进行的研究工作及取得的研究成果。 原创性声明 本人声明，所呈交的学位论文是本人在导师指导下进行的研究工作及取得的研究成果。 尽我所知，
