谢谢！ 祝工作顺利，身体健康！ This slide provides some background information regarding the scope and importance of HBV worldwide. Hepatitis B is a huge global problem. According to the World Health Organization, around 350 million people worldwide are chronically infected with HBV [WHO], and the infection claims the lives of almost 1 million every year due to the consequences of infection including scarring of the liver (cirrhosis), liver failure and liver cancer. Rates of HBV infection have a fairly distinctive pattern world wide. In areas where HBV infection is highly prevalent (eg. very common), most people are infected with the virus at birth or during childhood. Levels of HBV infection are also high in immigrant communities who have migrated from areas of high HBV prevalence to areas of low prevalence. Although an effective vaccine against HBV exists, it is not used everywhere. Some patients are infected before they have the chance to be vaccinated, and, because infection with HBV can be a long-term disease, complications continue to develop in those patients infected before vaccination was introduced. In summary, HBV represents a significant global health burden, and its detection and monitoring are critical aspects of patient care.
