Humor also plays a special role in people＇s daily life. It can make us happy and relief our anxiety and stress. It is just because of its functions that humor is widely used in many aspects. However, due to different cultures, Chinese humor is different from English humor. What is thought funny in one country might be considered nonsense or misunderstood in another country, Thus we need to know the differences so as to understand the humor better. In this paper, the author analyzed the intercultural differences between Chinese verbal humor and English verbal humor, The paper aims to enable people to better understand the characteristics of humorous language, grasp the cultural connotation, and have a correct understanding of English humor, therefore the successful intercultural communication can be achieved.
