Unit 14 Festivals (Speaking)

Speaking plays a role in connecting link between the preceding. In the periods of warming up and listening, the students have known something about the overview of the festivals. And in the reading period a birth of a festival will be introduced. In this part, the students are asked to create a festival, providing both the teacher and the students more free space to bring into play, matting for the reading. According to the Curriculum Revolution, the interests and the individuality of the students, I plan the following teaching goals:
To compare the Chinese culture with western culture, strengthening self-pride of the nation.
To improve the students’ ability of formulation and action, and to improve the students’ imagination.
Enable the students to master and use the following sentence patterns (teaching important point):

The method of teaching and learning
In this class, according to the characteristics of the teaching materials and the students, and the aims, important points, and the difficult points of teaching, I will adapt to the discussion method, inquiry method, at the same time, use the multimedia to break through the difficulty in teaching.

Warming up
To prepare four cards, writing Christmas, the Spring Festival, Easter, and Ramadan on each card. Choose one student from each group to guess the word. And I will put the four cards on four student’s foreheads, and the rest of the students will formulate the characteristics oak the festival and then ask the four chosen students to guess, as soon as possible.
