The First Period
Step1. leading-in
1. Say: Do you like having P.E class? Do you like playing sports? Now, let’s see a sports movie, OK?
2. Play the movie. When stopping, ask Ss some questions. For example, What?is?he?doing? What?is?she?doing? What?are?they?doing? Help Ss answer these questions.
Step2. Presentation
Show some pictures. Ask the students some questions.
T: What?is?he?doing? Ss: He’s?doing?homework.
T: What?is?he?doing? Ss : He’s?reading.
T: What?is?she?doing? Ss : She’s talking on the phone.
T: What?are?they?doing? Ss : They’re?watching?TV?
T: What??are?they doing? Ss: They’re?cleaning.
T: What?are?they?doing? Ss : They’re?eating?dinner.
The Ss read these V-ing words after the teacher.
doing?homework, ?reading, watching?TV, cleaning,
eating?dinner, talking on the phone
Step2. Listening.
1 The teacher shows the pictures on the screen. Then, the teacher asks questions:
T: What are they doing??
Ss: They’re talking on the phone .
2. Now, listen carefully. What are these people doing ? Fill in the chart.
Play the tape, Ss finish 1b.
3. Then check the answers.
