Teaching aims and demands
Grasp the new words:
curly, straight, tall, medium, height, thin, heavy, build.
Master target language
What does he look like? He’s really tall.
What does she look like? She has long straight hair.
Do they have straight or curly hair? They have curly hair.
Is he tall or short? He isn’t tall or short. He’s of medium height.
Be able to describe people’s looks.

Teaching procedures
Step1 Warm--up .Greetings.
Step2 Presentation
1.Play a video and ask students to guess who he is.
2.Learn the new words and phrases.
3.Activity 1a
Give them two minutes to do it. Later check the answers.
4.Listen and fill in the blanks in the picture. Then find Amy’s friend and finish 1b.
5.Pair work Ask some pairs of students to make conversations according to 1c.
6.Show some pictures of famous people and ask students to describe them.
Step3 Practice
Listening 2a &2b
1. First let students look at these questions.
2.Playing the tape and answer the questions.
3.Check the answers.
4.Listen again and fill in the chart. Then check the answers.
Step4 Consolidation 2c
1.Ask some pairs of students to make some conversations according to the chart above in 2b.
2.Act them out in the front and finish 2c.
Step5 Summary
In this period, we’ve learnt how to ask about and describe people’s looks. First, we have learnt the new words by matching them with the people in the picture. Then we’ve practiced using these words by completing the conversation and doing listening practice. And we’ve consolidated the target language by making our own conversation to ask about and describe people’s looks. When we do listening practice, we should pay attention to the usage of “is” and “has”.
Step6 Homework
1.Describe a friend of yours.
2.Finish the exercises in the workbook.
3.Preview the next period.
