华 华 中 科 技 大 学 硕 士 学 位 论 文 II II Abstract With the rapid development of mobile communication technology, there is an explosive growth in the market of wireless communications services, and a shortened update cycle of the mobile communication system. Competition in the communications industry requires that these systems be planned and deployed quickly and at low cost. Moreover, with the applications of microcell and picocell, the cell size becomes more and more small, and radio propagation environment has become so diverse that the traditional models for radio propagation prediction no longer have reusability and the accuracy of the prediction decreased. Ray-tracing based radio propagation prediction which takes into account the environment information such as geometry of buildings and material parameters, can perform at high accuracy. And usually it is combined with site-planning and optimization software to design the best mobile communication system providing reliable and low-cost services, which has become the best choice of mobile communication operators. The calculations of reflection coefficient and diffraction coefficient in the ray tracing procedure are analyzed, a simple method of calculating diffraction coefficient is presented, and quick solutions on the first-order and second-order diffraction spots location are given. A three-dimensional model of the actual local environment is built using autoCAD program and saved as dxf format, a C++ program which is able to read the dxf file has been built; the visibility algorithms and intersection algorithms in three-dimensional environment are given, and the three-dimensional ray-path search process is presented, and the three-dimensional ray tracing based on partial visibility graph is implemented. This paper compared the predicted and measured results in different propagation environments using three-dimensional ray tracing method, and also compared the results of first-order and second-order ray-tracing predict
