Abstract :The coding complexity in High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC )increases greatly owing to the adoption of 计 w quadtree structure, aiming at the problem, a fast algorithm for inter mode decision based on motion features is pro- posed. Firstly, for Coding Unit (CU )at different motion areas, it utilizes depth correlation between the curren CU and the w adjacent CU in the spatio-temporal to reduce the current CU depth traversal range. Then, according to the similarity at w spatial partition of the PU mode, among the current CU, the adjacent CU in the spatio-temporal and the previous depth CU, it reduces Prediction Unit (PU )mode traversal range for accelerating inter prediction process. The experimental results demonstrate that compared with HM 16.9, at different access ways, the proposed algorithm can reduce about 54% coding time on average and ensure the output bit rate is less increased.
