Module 5 Unit Three Project Man and Nature Learning aims In this period, the students will be able to gain a clear understanding of the importance of protecting the environment, forming ideas for a debate. Besides, the students are expected to know how to express and support their opinions and help them form a line of argument. Learning procedures Part 1 Lead-in 1. Enjoy some pictures of beautiful scenery in our nature, asking them when looking at these pictures, which words will turn up in their mind. 2. Show the students another group of pictures which vividly display the damage man has done to the environment. 3. Discussion Which do you think is more important, man or nature? I think nature is more important, because it gives us what we want , everyone who goes against nature will be punished. Lots of facts have proved it . Wihtout a good nature , we can’t live. Part 2 Step 1 fast reading Skim the passage as quickly as possible and find the answers to the following questions 1. What have people done to nature? They have done a lot to destroy and damage nature. 2. If we continue in this way, what might happen? The planet we live on might be destroyed. 3. What are many developed countries concerned about now? They are concerned about saving nature. 4. What are poorer nations doing now? What is their purpose for doing so? They are using up natural resources at a fast pace to meet the everyday needs of their people.
