Currently the fused biconical taper (FBT) decice is mainly provided temperature field by flame, fixed the coupling fiebers by vacuum fixture, which is susceptible to external environmental interfercence. It’s difficult to control coupling ratio, the shape of the couple precisely because of a big fluctuations in the temperature field. And the devices are sensitive to the wavelength with low bandwith. With the rapid development of optical fiber communications industry as well as to improve the measurement accuracy, wide bandwidth, high precision, ultra-stable optical fiber coupler increasingly attract people’s attention. The traditional coupler due to the above limitations of these factors is difficult to meet the requirements. Therefore, this thesis based on the FBT machine makes a series of improvements, including the design of the new fixture to replace vacuum fixture to improve the process and decrease the operation time; the development of the C L-band wideband coupler with splitting ratio of 1:99 to increase bandwidth, using a CO2 laser as a new heat source to produce optical fiber coupler in order to improve its accuracy, and making a series of experiments to ptoof it. In addition, this thesis also studys Singlemode-Multimode fiber WDM to meet project needs. This thesis describes development status and trends of the production of FBT couplers, and predicts some trends in order to meet the bandwidth. The second chapter analyzes the coupling theory, focusing on using flat-burning-fixture to make comparison tests with the vacuum adsorption fixture. The third chapter firstly demonstrates the theoretical aspects of the wideband coupler, then makes related simulation with Matlab. On this basis, manuf
