哈尔滨工业大学工程硕士学位论文 哈尔滨工业大学工程硕士学位论文 - - II - Abstract Along with the rapid growth in demand for network bandwidth, fiber-optic communications technology has been more widely used in the telecommunications field. Accordingly, the fault of fiber-optic communication has risen as well, so it causes the effective monitor of the fiber failure becoming more and more urgent. Obviously, the problems cannot be completely resolved only by traditional manual inspections. The integration of fiber-optic communication technology, Internet technology, and software engineering technology offer a better resolution.At present, some foreign fiber equipment manufactures already provide some mature monitoring system solutions. But a number of problems still exist to totally import and implement these solutions. Firstly, these systems are often expensive and very high import costs. Moreover, there is poor compatibility between the systems of various manufacturers, resulting in a very narrow range of choices for upgrading. Finally, some software systems services cannot be customized, so they cause some conflict issues between the existing systems and new ones, which make a low efficiency. In this thesis, it starts on comparing several popular fiber monitor systems, analyzing a various performance indicators of optical components, combining the fiber cable status, researching the hardware design of fiber cable backup system, fiber routing monitor system and the optical devices distribution system. Attenuation characteristic of optical fiber is measured by Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer, OTDR). The multi-channel high precision optical-power monitor system is designed. The optical-power change in the receiver of optical terminal is automatically monitored by optical- power unit this system. When the optical power changes super the warning threshold, this system should link OTDR with optical switch, and apply the fault location monitor in the area of warning o
