Charles Dickens * * * * This is an English novelist ,generally considered the greatest of the Victorian era. His many volumes include such works as A Christmas Carol , David Copp -erfield , Bleak House ,A Tale of Two Cities , Great Expectations ,and Our Mutual Friend . This novel centres on the years leading up to the French Revolution and culminates in the Jacobin Reign of Terror. It tells the story of two men, Charles Darnay and Sydney Carton, who look similar but are very different in personality. A Tale of Two Cities occupies a central place in the canon of Charles Dickenss works. It is one of Dickens’s most important representative works. The novel describes many magnificent scenes like the revolt people attacked Bastille and so on, which display people’s great strength . The novel has protrayed many different people: Doctor Manette : honest,kind,suffers the persecution actually; Lucie : beautiful,gentle ; Charles : graceful,noble; Lorry : upright,honest…… What I like most about this book : It tells us to conquer evil with love. 这本书吿诉我们要以爱消恨。 How do you think love and evil ? Do you agree with the writer? Lost in the story , I felt like being together with the characters and experiencing the same exciting events , Soon it came to an end . To tell you my feelings , its infinite sadness and a strong emotion that can drive me to cry. The story is set in London and Paris at the time of the great French Revolution . It shows the causes of revolution and its effects on peoples day-to-day lives . In the revolution , some people do many bad things , but some people still have a clean heart and do useful things to try to change the world. Then this situation of darkness is needed to be changed. The book is full of love and evil . You can learn deep mentality and develop yourself . Equality and fairness is what people seek , which led to the French Revolution. As a consequence, neither equality nor fairness was got after the revolution . And thats the traged
