T e effects of t e gaskets on t e mercury porosimetry analysis were compared w it t e vacuum grease by t e vacuum time needed to fill t e sample cell and t e filled mercury mass. After t at, t e standard porous SiO samples w ere also analyzed by t ese tw o different sealing condi 2 tions. It s ow ed t at t e silicon rubber gaskets did not low er t e analyt ical rapidity and exactness. On t e con trary , t e gaskets w ere reusable and easier for operation, and t ey did not contaminate t e samples at all. Be cause of t e controllability of t e t ickness and diameter of t e silicon rubber gasket s , t e mass of mercury filled int o t e sam ple cells w as rat er consistent wit eac ot er, w ic w as beneficial to t e calculation of t e volume, t e porosity, t e apparent density and t e t rue density.
