EXCEL Principle of Dynamic Measurement Applied on Digital Photographs Fan-Kuo HUANG* Ching-Nan CHUNG Abstract Given a few photographs, can we figure out the distance and traveling speed of a flying object, such as a bird or an airplane, from the photographer? From the relative image sizes of such flying object and its flying angles, we can extract critical information and then measure these dynamic values. In this article, we will learn how to measure the distance and speed of a flying object using two-dimensional photo images. we will also examine the relationship between 2-D digital images and dynamic measurement values. After thoroughly understanding the dynamic measurement principles, at the end, we will discuss the applications using static measurement of digital photos. The author also included an Excel-based calculation tool to facilitate readers own research.
