Listening in Context First listening A. Listen to this radio show, and then answer the questions. 1. Which title best describes the dialog? a. How to Lose Weight Safely b. Eating Well When You’re Busy c. Staying Healthy As You Get Older 2. Why is the man calling Dr. Sommers? He gets tired often. Scripts Announcer: Hi, caller. Please go ahead with your question for Doctor Sommers. Man: Hi, Doctor. I’m fifty-seven and am very healthy, but I get tired often. What can I do about this? Dr. Sommers: Well, first, make sure you exercise. Do you do this? Man: Not really. I get bored when I exercise. Dr. Sommers: How about exercising with someone, then? It’s important for you to exercise every day. The next thing you should do is eat the right amount of good food. Man: Hmm. . . I try to do this, but sometimes it’s hard. Dr. Sommers: Do you eat a lot of junk food? Man: No, but I love to eat, and I usually get hungry often, so I eat a lot. Dr. Sommers: You could be tired because you eat too much too fast. When you have a meal, try to eat slowly, and stop when you get full. Finally, I suggest taking a vitamin every day. Vitamins might give you some extra energy. Man: Okay, I understand. Dr. Sommers: And remember this: as we get older, we naturally have less energy than we did when we were young. These suggestions won’t make you feel twenty-one, but they will help you to feel more energetic. Good luck! Listening in Context Second listening B.
