WRITING IN TOURISM ENGLISH Unit 3Telephone Message Introduction of telephone messages Telephone messages or slips are a kind of notes. They are written for the convenience of the people who are temporarily off. They are not sent through the post, but are left for people to read, or sent to people by hand. Writing tips Telephone messages are often written in informal style, except that they are written for a superior to read, when the style may become formal. Five W’s should be included when taking a message. They are: Who is the message for? Who is the message from? What is the caller’s telephone number? When is the message written? Who put down the message? Meanwhile, the language of the message is comparably concise and simple. I.
