To know the knowledge of “Business Link” Part. 1. To be able to analyse an L/C. 2. To be able to translate an L/C The most generally adopted mothod of payment is L/C, which is reliable and safe. As a usual practice, the L/C is to be established and to reach the seller one month before the date of shipment so as to leave enough time for the seller to arrange shipment. Parties in connection with an L/C: Applicant: to apply for the issuing bank to issue an L/C, (usually the buyer or impoter of a transaction) Issuing Bank (Opening Bank): to issue an L/C with the request to the application from the applicant, (be reponsible for payment, usually the bank in buyer’s location) Beneficiary: to get the payment, (usually the seller or exporter of a transaction) Advising Bank (Notifying Bank): to notify/inform the beneficiary of the L/C. (usually the bank in seller’s location) Negotiating Bank: to pay or discount documentary bills from the beneficiary under the L/C. (usually the advising bank in seller’s location) Paying Bank: to be reponsible for payment of the L/C. (usually the issuing bank in buyer’s location) In this unit, urging L/C establishment, L/C application and L/C specimen will be discussed.
