Unit Twelve Introduction With the globalization of the economy, many large firms have established their own branches and offices in worldwide locations. It is vital that the company have the intercultural training program, so as to enable the staff from different background to exchange thoughts, ideas and opinions. Text 1 Intel, a high-technology firm, has manufacturing and sales offices in worldwide locations. Each major site has a training organization with a training manager from the local country. As Intel has engaged in greater multinational partnerships, one of its major trusts has been to increase the quality of relationships and exchange of information and training technology. Because its engineering and manufacturing talent spans geographies and nationalities, Intel is a highly culturally diverse company both worldwide and within the United States. Text In the multicultural integration workshop, managers who were born and raised in other countries and have been successful within the company are used as role-model presenters. They discuss their own careers and speak of career planning and professional growth and development. Additionally, the workshop offers an informal environment for individual questions and networking. 5 Intact Team Training. This level of training is designed to support specific corporate business initiatives. When Intel forms a joint venture with a non-U.S. company, training for team members is imperative for the success of that venture. The role that corporate cultural differences as well as national cultural differences play is often underestimated. Intel is increasingly incorporating intercultural perspective into teambuilding. As an example, in one situation when engineers from Japan were brought to the United States for training, an external consultant who is fluent in Japanese was available to work with the employees and their families during their stay.
