To be able to translate a letter of L/C amendment. 3. To be able to write a letter of L/C amendment. Upon receipt of the relevant L/C, the beneficiary (seller) of the L/C should, first of all, make a thorough examination to it to find whether the clauses in the L/C are in complete conformity with the terms in the contract. If any discrepancies, the benecifiary (seller) should ask the applicant (buyer) to ask for his issusing bank to amend the L/C accordingly. Moreover, the applicant (buyer) may also ask for amendment. The following points may be given for reference in the examination of L/C (1) Whether the issuing bank is a sound reliable foreign bank or not, whether the currency employed and other reimbursement clauses are clear and in accordance with the regulations in the exporting country. (2). The L/C should usually be irrevocable without any restrictions, such as “Subject to import license obtainable”, etc. (3). Whether the goods description (specifications, quantity, number, packing, marks, etc.) are in accordance with the sales contract. (4). The total amount, validity time and date and place of expiry. (5). Whether the required documents (invoice, c/o, B/L, insurance policy, etc.) are in accordance with the sales contract. Step
