PRACTICE (Teacher cuts the writing process cards into pieces and distributes the cards to groups for Task 2 p9) OBJECTIVES To make students understand: Writing is a process; The process contains several stages/steps; There are individual variations on the sequence of the stages/steps in this process. 1. INTRODUCTION How is your writing? Do you write well? A good piece of writing is the outcome of repeated discovery—drafting —evaluating—redrafting, not of “a one-shot deal” (Raimes 1983:263). Effective writing is the outcome of more careful preparation, more revision and correction on the papers. 2. LEAD-IN Discuss: How do you usually write? What is your writing process? Writing is a process, which involves many stages or steps. The longer the paper, the more stages the writer involves. Do you know these stages or steps? 4. SHOWING YOUR WRITING PROCESS Task 2 p9 A. discuss the meaning of each card in groups; B. invite students to give feed back, and teacher clarifies the meaning of each card when necessary; Task 3 p10 Arrange the cards in the order presenting the writing process of the group members; Rewrite, delete, or add cards when it is necessary. Task 4 p10 Share and compare the work with the other groups. Find and discuss similarities and differences. 5. CONCLUSION Writing is a process. The longer the paper one writes, the more steps or revision and longer time one needs. In this process everyone has his/her own way and follows his/her own steps’ order.
