CIM Computer Integrated Manufacturing What does the word “integrated” mean? What is the meaning of CIM ( Computer Integrated Manufacturing )? The word “integrated” as an adjective here means “entire or whole or comprehensive.” The phrases CIM means the manufacturing process being controlled by a computer system as a whole. That is , a computer can be used as a controller of everything in manufacturing. Why do we have to use such a system? What is the aim of CIM’ s use? The aim of its use is first of all to manufacture products more efficiently. A manufacturer has to produce the best product at the lowest cost in order to compete with others. How can computer help them to achieve the goal? Computer can help them almost in every way. That is, there will be a thoroughly computer-integrated manufacturing system. Why do we choose CIM? 1).
