Difficult points: 1Retell the events in the passage. 2 Narrate past events with adverbial clauses of time and correct tense. Teaching tools: multimedia, PPT Teaching procedure Step 1 Greeting Step 2 Leading-in 1 T lets Ss watch a video on PPT 2 about September 11th attacks then discuss about the proper adjective word to fill in the title with. 2 T asks for their answers and then gives the word. Step 3 Skimming 1 Ss look through the title, the picture and the passage quickly. 2 Match the event with each paragraph. (PPT 3) 3 Ss answer the 2 questions on PPT 4. Step 4 Careful reading and new words learning 1 Ss look through the new words and phrases on PPT 5. 2 Read the passage again, guess and try to find out the meanings of the new words and phrases . 3 T asks some students to stand up and tell the meanings. 4 Read and learn the words and phrases, try to memorize the meanings. 5 SS read the 5 words on PPT 6 and try to find out the opposite meanings to the words from the passage.
