Should government officials carry out the will of the people they serve, or base their decisions on their own judgment? Well, this issue is never an either-or situation, and qualified politicians should have the ability to stick to their own judgment as well as to take into account the voice of their people. History tells us that on balance, the will of the people sometimes ought to put more emphasis on.
I concede that any leader who is quickly influenced by people’s voice lacks basic expertise in politics and may appear to be a bit na?ve. Being a qualified helmsman of either a company or a nation would require years of hard training and decades of experience. In fact to enter the realm of politics one must not only hold high expertise in law, economics and many other subjects, but also have a strong will, determination, and his or her own belief. Any leader who only looks to what the people want and require would inevitably find himself bogged down in an ocean of divergent opinions, and only by weighing all possible decisions based on the leader’s own faculty could solve those problems.
What’s more, in many situations officials must have their own vision and perception, and base their decisions on their own judgment to provide proper guidance and suggestions for the people. Simply put in this way, ordinary people sometimes just don’t see truth behind its political appearance, and only politicians can perceive the hidden subtlety.
