[BUILD 1] At the heart of this solution is a PureDisk Server and Storage. We call this a storage pool. The blue icon on top of the picture is our symbol for the scalability of the solution. PureDisk can work in both small and large remote offices – these are depicted on the left. [BUILD 2] In a small remote office you can deploy a PureDisk agent on to the server(s) to be protected. The agent does much of the work – identifying unique files, unique file segments, and encryption. This agent will transmit the globally unique files or file segments to the data center on a scheduled basis. You can protect files or use one of our database / application agents. [BUILD 3] In a larger office, you would install agents on each server as well as a local recovery server (with storage). [BUILD 4] In this scenario, the agents would backup unique files or file segments to the local recovery server. The local server helps companies quickly recover large amounts of data in the local office. [BUILD 5] The PureDisk storage pool would then replicate only the globally unique data to the data center. [BUILD 6] The PureDisk client-side deduplication agent is also very effective for servers within virtual environments. Of course, it can also protect servers in the data center that have bandwidth constraints. [BUILD 7] PureDisk data for any client can be recovered in the data center. [BUILD 8] To protect the PureDisk environment in the data center, we recommend replicating it to another location. Again, data can be recovered for any PureDisk client at this location as well. [BUILD 9 10] PureDisk customer can also use NetBackup to export data from the PureDisk environment to tape. This allows customers to make a ‘gold recovery tape’. This tape could be used to recover data directly to a server using NetBackup. Essentially, it is like a regular
