Objectives of this subject 1. Common used English terminology in TCM There exit a complete system of TCM terminology of TCM with more than 50 years of history. e.g. 中医zhongyi TCM CTM traditional medicine; conventional medicine; Chinese medicine; 证 zheng Syndrome, pattern, type 辨证： syndrome differentiation; pattern identification 针灸 zhenjiu acupuncture and moxibustion; acu-moxibustion 经络Jingluo: channels and collaterals meridians and vessels network 2. Basic rules in the translation of Chinese medicine 1) Preserve the independence of the system of TCM Eg. Yin and yang Five elements Qi energy Zangfu-organs viscera bowel 2) Professional and concise (simple and clear) Lung Pulmonary/ inflammation of the lungs Liver Hepatitis 3. Useful techniques in translation of Chinese medicine. Some of medical terminology (western medicine / bio-medicine / conventional medicine / Orthodox medicine ) especially for acupuncture.
