Yang Jiang belongs to an unique and beautiful existence in Chinese literature of the 20th Century. In 1910s, Yang Jiang was born in Beijing, originally named Yang Jikang. In 1930s, She grauduated from university and went to Tsinghua University as a postgraduate. There she met Qian Zhongshu, they fell in love and married. In 1940s, she worked in the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. In 1950s, she worked for Peking University and other important research institutions.In 1960s , she started to translate Don Quixote, 堂吉柯德 and in 1978, the Chinese version of Quixote was published.In 1980s, She began to write short novels.In 1990s, after her husband and daughter passed away, she almost stopped all the work.Part IIHer Translations Her translations最出名的是翻译的西班牙作品《堂吉诃德》，她还翻译了西班牙流浪汉小说《小癞子》。法国文学名著《吉尔·布拉斯》（Alain Rene Le Sage: ）古希腊散文柏拉图(plato)的“对话录”《斐多》(Phaedo)等。1938杨绛先生翻译了《1939年以来的英国散文选》 Part III Her Translations Features and Thoughts杨绛文学语言的特点 其沉淀简洁的语言，看起来平平淡淡，无阴无晴。然而平淡不是贫乏，阴晴隐于其中，经过漂洗的苦心经营的朴素中，有着本色的绚烂华丽。干净明晰的语言在杨绛笔下变得有巨大的表现力。有时把词序变换一下，不符合常规，反倒更显别致耐读。有时明净到有些冷，但由于渗入诙谐幽默，便平添几分灵动之气。因而使静穆严肃的语言自有生机，安静而不古板，活泼而不浮动，静中有动，动还是静。沉静诙谐中有沉着老到、雍容优雅的气派，锋芒内敛后的不动声色，有种静穆超然的中和之美。1960 Embodied in her works is her sense of humor, a reflection of her wisdom, her view of the world and her attitudes toward life.
