Q: What is the function of an art exhibition? enable viewers to experience the works, to respond to, to enjoy and to connect with them Q: What are the themes of exhibitions mentioned in the passage? a historical period, a location , a trend, war and peace 5’ Step 2 Listening for main idea Students look at the two pictures in activity 8 and describe what they can see in the pictures and guess the themes of the two artworks. Students listen to the audio guide and find out the main message of each work. Guernica:the tragedy of war,fear,anger The Battlefield in Spring:optimistic message,encouragement to people,hope for peace 5’ Step 3 Listening for detailed information Students read the passage in Activity 9 to get the useful information. Students listen again and make notes according to the audio guide.
