Teaching plan The teaching material: 本篇章来源于在线英语听力室的一篇“ Good Weather Spots ”,根据学生已有的认知水平进行改编。本篇章的内容涉及到四个国家的不同天气,每个篇章中都有该国家最好天气和最差天气地区的描述,意在让学生了解世界各地的天气情况,尤其是几个讲英语国家的天气情况,同时也培养学生们学习地理知识的兴趣。学生们能在阅读这篇描述天气情况的语言材料之后,能以跟帖的形式写出自己国家(包括家乡)的最好天气和最差天气的地方,并使用because, so, but等陈述理由。 The students: 学生们已经学习了8AModule 10 The Weather,大部分同学能够对照天气示意图,听懂天气预报;能够谈论、描述天气;能够运用表示可能性的单词和句型。此外,学生们在本学期学习了第四模块的形容词最高级,所以能用形容词最高级进行谈论。但是,学生们还没有学到名词性从句,还有学生们的词汇量也是有限的,本篇章是对此模块阅读文章的拓展,有部分学生或许会觉得篇章有点难度。 Teaching Objective(Learning teaching Objective): By the end of this lesson, most students will be able to: Language knowledge: Know the meaning of the new words to describe weather or extreme weather, such as damp, humid, mild, harsh, haze etc. Use the following structures to describe the best and the worst weather: It probably has the best weather. The worst weather is in the Pacific Northwest. The best part of the country with weather is Vancouver. Learning strategies: Use different resource strategies: Use the dictionary to look up new words. Use to get and add answers. Guess the meaning of the new word according to the surrounding information. Culture awareness: Know the locations of England, the United States ,New Zealand and Canada Know the weather of different countries. Teaching Focus: 1. Learning strategy: guess the meanings of the words according to the surrounding information 2.Teaching students how to use Yahoo! to get information and the dictionary to look up new words. 3. Summarizing the frame of the passage and post a similar one on the website. Anticipated Difficulties: Some students may find it difficult to: 1) understand the new words 2)write a passage. Solutions: 1. teach students methods to guess the meanings of the words according to the surrounding information and by using a dictionary. 2. summarize the frame of the passage and lead them to learn the frame of the passage.
