* * * * * * * * * Replace for 2013 ----------- Adaptive Meshing - local refinement There are three modes for adaptive meshing in the MSC.Marc Preference: - None - this is the default -no adaptive meshing - Local - do local refinement - Global - do global remeshing Local refinement works this way: 1. Put the element that you want to be refined in to a Patran group. 2. Set the Adaptive Meshing to Local 3. Give the area a Zone name 4. Associate the group to the Zone 5. Set the adaptive meshing criteria (multiple criteria can be set) 6. Repeat for a many zones as you need This will place an ADAPT card in your input deck. ---------------------------- Adaptive Meshing - global remeshing Global remeshing works this way: 1. Define deformable contact bodies. 2. Set the Adaptive Meshing to Global 3. Give the area a Zone name 4. Associate the contact body to the Zone 5. Select the mesher you want to use 6. Repeat for a many zones as you need This will place an ADAPT GLOBAL card in your input deck. With Global remeshing you must select contact bodies to be remeshed. Local refinement does not do remeshing, but simply refines the mesh in the defined are based on the criteria given. This is pre-processing only.
