Target setting Ø The higher direction of an organisation requires a clear vision, in general terms, of what the organisation should be doing in the longer term and how it should go about doing it. Ø Mission statements are formal statements of an organization ’s mission which describe the organization ’s basic purpose and what it is trying to achieve. Ø There is no standard format, but they should possess certain characteristics. (a). Brevity – easy to understand and remember (b). Flexibility – to accommodate change (c).
