Hard shut-in procedure In case of a kick, 1) Close the annular BOP adjust its closing pressure as required. 2) Open the HCR valve. 3) Read record SIDPP SICP. 4) Read record pit gain. Advantage= low influx volume Hard shut-in One disadvantage is that casing pressure cannot be observed, since the choke line valves are closed, thus, MASP could be exceeded which could cause formation fracture lost circulation.
