For materials to present directly to customers, a separate customer overview presentation is available and may leverage many of the same slides in this selling and positioning presentation. * The traditional PC has a lot of costs for ongoing desktop refresh as well as day to day cost of maintaining them, staffing the help desk, and dealing with downtime. PC’s are totally self-contained, including the OS, applications, and personalized settings. This results in thousands of unique systems due to user mods despite best efforts in initially installing a common corporate OS image. This impacts the costs of support and leads to security holes and, sometimes, really bad performance. On the right you can see the traditional lifecycle of the PC showing the many steps involved in simply procuring the machine and getting to the user’s desk and then keeping it running with corporate data intact. * * The applications, desktop OS and user profile are centralized in the Data Center, where they can be very easily managed and updated, and then assembled on demand into a virtual desktop.
