As we all know, English is the official language of many countries, including England, Canada, South Africa, and the United States. It is also widely used among some largest populations such as the Indians and Chinese. As such, the rules of the language vary across different regions and peoples. Without further delay, we continue. 　　 　　(7) 数字的使用 　　 　　在英文写作中遇到数字时要注意两点： 　　 　　 a. 10以下用英文表示，10以上用阿拉伯数字表示。 　　The two brothers brought with them eight chickens and 10 sheep. 　　There are 102 soldiers in Company A. 　　 　　b. 句子不应用阿拉伯数字开始。 　　错句:200 Japanese soldiers surrendered to the Allied troops. 　　应为: Two hundred Japanese soldiers surrend- 　　ered to the Allied troops. 　　 　　错句: 1887 saw the biggest flood of the Yellow River. 　　应为:The year 1887 saw the biggest flood of the Yellow River. 　　 　　错句:95 percent of the population of the town voted for Democrats. 　　应为:Ninety-five percent of the population of the town voted for Democrats. 　　 　　(8) 数字的表示 　　 　　a.在英文中表达数字时以千为单位，用逗号断开；注意：不可用句号。 　　1,000 一千; 10,000 一万 　　1,000,000 一百万; 1,000,000,000 十亿 　　15,350,150 一千五百三十五万零一百五十 　　 　　b. 百万以上的整数，应尽量用文字表示，以节省篇幅。如： 　　one million; 15 million; nine billion; 50 billion 　　 注意：在 million, billion, trillion等之前使用英文或阿拉伯数字的规则与上面第(7)节中的相同，即10以下用英文写出，10以上用阿拉伯数字。 　　 　　c. 数字的表示与度量符号。 　　在有度量符号的情况下, 应当使用阿拉伯数字。 　　He made $2 million last year from selling limber to Asian countries. 　　The measures of this room are 6′ in width and 12′ 9″ in length. 　　The temperature reached 40°C
