He made contributions to education reform with his own education ideology. He was the president of Peking University (1916–1927), and founder of the Academia Sinica. He was known for his critical evaluation of Chinese culture and synthesis of Chinese and Western thinking. He got involved in the New Culture Movement, May Fourth Movement, and the feminist movement. His works involve aesthetic education, politics, education reform, etc. Epictetus (circa 55–135): He was a Stoic philosopher. Epictetus taught that philosophy is a way of life and not just a theoretical discipline.
