Several mechanisms of potential antioxidant activities, including DPPH free-radical scavenging activity, reducing power and lipid peroxidation, and antibacterial activity towards Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aurous, Bacillus cereus and Bacillus subtilis were examined. The antioxidant and antibacterial activities of Indocalamus tesselatus extract implicate its potential for natural preservation.
