Teaching objectives:
Get students to know the form of V-ing.
Let students know the function of V-ing as adverbial.
The analysis of students:
Students in Grade One have learned English for about one year in senior middle school. But most students in our class do not very well in English, especially the Grammar. S
Teaching important and difficult points:
Know about the definition about V-ing as adverbial.
Know the difference between V-ing as adverbial and having done as adverbial.
Teaching procedures:
Step1:
Let students observe the 2 groups sentences
Group 1
When we stand with the national flag, we feel more proud.
Standing with the national flag, we feel more proud.
Group 2
Although the doctors face great danger, they treat patients bravely day and night.
Facing great danger, the doctors still treat patients bravely day and night.
Then show the rule using PPT.Step2: Imitate and simplify the following sentences,and find out the function of v-ing as adverbial.
(1). When you are crossing the road, please be careful. ( )
(2). If we see from the hill, we find the lake looks more beautiful. ( )
(3). Because I didn’t know her telephone number, I didn’t phone her. ( )
(4).They sat in the garden and talked about the days they spent together. ( )
