It’s a kind of Chinese traditional art form. Do you like it? (Ss:...) Before this class, look at the screen. There are some famous Chinese traditional art forms. Do you know them? What are they? Ss: Beijing opera T: Beijing opera is from Beijing, and face-changing in Sichuan, kites in Weifang, Chinese clay art in Jiangxi, paper cutting in Anhui. So we can say Each different part of China has its own special forms of traditional art. Step II Pre-reading T: Now, open your book to page 38. What is the title? Ss: Beauty in the common things. T: Yes, but what’s the meaning of title? Can you translate it into Chinese? Ss: 普通事物中的美 T: Yes, but what are the common things? Look at the pictures. Can you guess the topic of this passage? What does the passage mainly talk about? Ss: Traditional art forms. 【设计意图】通过对题目以及插图的分析初步了解本文。同时训练学生根据题目及配图理解文章的阅读技巧。 Step III While-reading 1. Scanning T: Now please scan the passage quickly and match the main idea with each paragraph. While reading, please pay more attention to the topic sentence, such as the first sentence of each paragraph.
