In the novel, the female roles mostly rely on men economically, but in the moral level they make much progress. The female characters are the dominant power and the support of their family, as well as the spirit of social and moral construction. This thesis analyzes several gentle female characters and the reaction when women suffer from the slavery. At the same time, this thesis analyzes several male characters, which are in sharp contrast to female characters. It expresses the idea that female redemption is an essential asset in the way of saving the society.
