The safety of railway transportation is an important issue related to the national economy and social stability. The main Transformer of the electric locomotive is an important part of the AC electric locomotive. The reliability and continuity of its operation is the guarantee of the safety of the locomotive. The operating conditions of the main Transformer of the electric locomotive are relatively poor. From the point of view of the operation of the main Transformer of the electric locomotive for many years, the failure rate of the main Transformer is not high, and it will cause great losses once it fails. Based on the practical theory of transformer, this paper introduces the structure of transformer, the function of parts, and the cooling system of main Transformer, taking TBQ8 main Transformer as an example.
