My Last Duchess;Life Experience;1812: Born in Camberwell, a suburb of London 1824:began to write poetry 1833:his first important poem---Pauline ---was published 1835:his next poem---Paracelsus 1837: tragedy Strafford ;;1889:his last book, Asolando, was published the day of his death, December 12, 1889. he was buried at Westminster Abbey. ;His major works;Other works;My Last Duchess ;Setting and background ;The portrait of the Duchess;Some Pictures about the Duchess; Dramatic monologue is a piece of spoken verse that offers great insight into the feelings of the speaker. A form practiced by Robert Browning ; soliloquy is a device often used in drama whereby a character relates his or her thoughts and feelings to him/herself and to the audience without addressing any of the other characters, and is delivered often when they are alone or think they are alone. ; A single person, who is patently not the poet, utters the speech that makes up the whole of the poem, in a specific situation at a critical moment . 2.This person addresses and interacts with one or more other people. 3.The main principle controlling the poets choice and formulation of what the lyric speaker says is to reveal to the reader, in a way that enhances its interest, the speakers temperament and character. ;That‘s my last Duchess painted on the wall, 墙上的这幅画是我的前公爵夫人, Looking as if she were alive.
