SAP signed its first customer in this industry back in 1970…. ERP was not yet common and had to be more strongly defined…..and we looked to this industry to help build it….R/1 was a reality….. The 80s came and ERP became the Business software Standard that everyone wanted…this enabled SAP to continue to grow as a company…. R/2 was launched to address inter-departmental business process flows….. During the early 90s R/3 emerged……. we worked to expand our ERP solution to include more functionality through the ’90’s…… Then during the late 90s, D fever broke out…..and we all bought the hype…..and thought things were really going to change…..but it didn’t last long….. and SAP survived with you…. But understood that the next wave of technology was necessary… In the ’90’s we listened once again to our customers. 12 companies within CITA founded PISUG (Process Industry SAP Users Group). With their help we have made many stepwise and transformational changes to the SAP product suite. In the ’90’s CITA also formed the CIDX to develop industry collaboration standards. We are working with this group and others to make this type of collaboration a reality. Today we are integrating more business processes and information than ever before…..you expect and demand our systems to perform the most complex processes, across different landscapes – including headquarters, plant, field and customer locations - in a matter of seconds……and we can do it!
