Help students to know different body language has different meaning in different cultures. Help students to develop cultural awareness of body language when in other cultures. Greetings and Lead-in 1Brainstorming is employed to induce students to think about different types of greetings. What will come into your mind immediately you see the word”greeting”? 2.Ask students to divide those greetings into two types.(Verbal and Non-verbal) 1. To attract students’ interest and warm them up. 2. Lead in the topic and arouse students’ curiosity and desire to read the passage. Step 2 Read Passage One--- Greetings Around the world and finish the four tasks. Scan the passage and finish the following tasks 1.Ask students to read the first para and fill in the blanks using proper information to give an exact definition of body language 2. Show pictures of different greetings in different countries and find out at least: 1)One difference between the first four pictures and the last one?(traditional and modern,formal and informal...) 2).One similarity of those greetings? (hands involved,to show trust...) 3).Why do you think hands are involved in all these greetings?” 3.Group work: choose one type of greetings and introduce it to the others following the given example. 4.Ask students to share their
