Department of General Surgery， General Hospital of Jinan Military Command， Jinan 250031， China 【Abstract】 Objective To observe expression of T lymphoma invasion and metastasis inducing factor 1 (Tiam 1) and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) in gastric cancer and investigate their relatiohip with clinicopathological paramete. Methods The expressio of Tiam 1 and PCNA in cancer tissues and normal gastric mucosa of 60 cases with gastric cancer were detected by immunohistochemistry method. Results ①Staining of Tiam 1 protein was negative in normal gastric mucosa but positive in gastric cancer (47/60， %)， with significantly statistical difference (P ). ②PCNA labeling index (LI) in gastric cancer was ± that was significantly higher than ± in normal gastric mucosa (P ). ③Both expressio of Tiam 1 and PCNA were associated with the differentiation degree， invasive depth， TNM stage and lymph node metastasis of gastric cancer (P ) but not with sex and age of cases as well as primary pathological site or size of the cancer foci (P ). ④ PCNA LI in cases with positive staining of Tiam 1 was significantly higher than that in cases with negative staining of Tiam 1 (P ). Conclusio Upregulated expressio of Tiam 1 and PCNA are closely correlated with the invasion and metastasis of gastric cancer. Combined detection of Tiam 1 and PCNA is helpful for estimating the biological behavior of gastric cancer。 【Key words】 Gastric ca
