Puss told the workmen in the fields to tell the king the land belonged to the Marquis of Carabas or he would cut them into mincemeat! When the king asked the workmen who owned the land, they told him it was the Marquis of Carabas. The king was impressed. The land really belonged to a rich ogre. Puss ran ahead of the coach to the castle where the ogre lived. Puss went to see the ogre. He told him he had heard he could transform into any animal he wished.
