Whenyouareold ------WilliamButlerYeats 丹丹 2021/5/91 William Butler Yeats Yeats was an Irish poet and playwright . He was the greatest lyric poet Ireland has produced and one of the major figures of 20th-century literature, the acknowledged leader of the Irish literary renaissance. Yeats’ early poetry was under the influence of the romantic poets, but his Irish theme and his special use of language soon showed him to be a poet of distinction. 2021/5/92 William Butler Yeats In 1923, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature for what the Nobel Committee described as inspired poetry, which in a highly artistic form gives expression to the spirit of a whole nation. He was the first Irishman so honored. Yeats is also a dramatist , writing verse plays in most of the cases. He wrote about 20 plays altogether from 1892 to 1939.
