Unit8 How do you make a banana milk shake? Section B(2a-2d)教学设计 一、Learning aims 1.Understand the new words and phrases by reading them in the text; 2.Improve students’ reading abilities by using some learning skills, such as skimming and scanning 3.Know about the background of the Thanksgiving Day. 二、The key points and difficult points: 1. The key points: 1) Master the key words and phrases 2) Reading the passage, and get the useful information. 3) Learn about the traditions on Thanksgiving. 4) Learn how to make Thanksgiving turkey. 2. Teaching difficulties: 1) Learn to use the words and expressions. 2) After reading, student can finish the reading tasks. 3) Students design their own mind map according to the article. Then retell the article. 三、.Teaching course: Ⅰ. Lead-in Guessing game: Show a part of the picture, let students guess what is in the picture. Then lead in the Thanksgiving Day. Ⅱ. Presentation Before reading T: Look at the title and the pictures. Can you guess what the passage is mainly about? ( If you write the article, what you will introduce…) Let students try to guess what they will read in this passage.( When is the Thanksgiving Day? Why do people celebrate it? How do people celebrate it? What kind of food do they eat?...) While reading 1 Let Ss read the first paragraph and answer the following questions. (1).Where do people celebrate Thanksgiving? (2). When do people celebrate it? (3). Why do people celebrate it? (4).How do people celebrate it? (5). What is the main dish of the Thanksgiving meal? (Deal with new words and sentences while checking the answers with students) 2. Ss read the second paragraph and number the pictures [1-5]. T: The day after tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day. Do you want to lean how to make a turkey ? First, we need the following things. Show the new words on the big screen and teach Ss the new words in the passage.
