Text analysis 1. theme context:Human and Nature 2. reading passage analysis: This reading passage belongs to literary journalism, which is a genre between news report and literature. What it describes are real events and people. The language of it is vivid and touching with different figures of speech(like simile, personification, metaphor). This passage described the earthquake in Tangshan in order of time, that is, before the earthquake, during the earthquake and after the earthquake. The first paragraph described the strange signs before the earthquake, which showed the nervous atmosphere people didn’t care about. The second paragraph described the astonishing scene during the earthquake, and the depressing ruins. The last two paragraphs described how the survivors were rescued by the soldiers and how they rebuilt the new city of Tangshan with the help of the government, expressing the powerful love showed by people in front of the disasters. The expressions in this passage, like those exact numbers and time, not only described the process of the earthquake exactly, but also conveyed the breath-taking atmosphere during the earthquake.
