Analysis of the Teaching Material This text is from module 3 unit 3 Diverse Cultures, which is aimed at leading students to explore the diverse cultures of the world, inspiring them to think about the reasons for cultural diversity and guiding them to write a cultural introduction. This text is a travel journal written by Li Lan, organized in the order of time, introducing Li’s trip in San Francisco. Li shares her first impression of San Francisco before the tri, and her visit to Mission District where she tasted a real mix of cultures. Later she learnt the historical changes of California from a local museum and understood how the immigrants from all over the world made the culture here diverse. She also shares her visit to Chinatown where she tasted great food and her travel plan for the next day. The language in the text is easy to understand. Therefore, they are inspired to focus on how Li shows the diverse cultures of San Francisco and think about Li Lan’s writing’s purpose. Ⅱ. Analysis of the Students Senior 1 students have already mastered a certain number of English vocabulary, and reading skills. They are able to express personal opinions clearly in English. Meanwhile, senior 1 students have the ability to study both independently and cooperatively.
