Listening text genre: news reports
Listening text analysis:
The text contains 4 different news reports. Some typical expressions in news reports can be seen, like Good morning/evening, breaking news, those are the top news for today, early reports said that, more news about, etc. The first one is a morning news report about a strong earthquake in Ecuador and its damage, as well as the rescue work. The second one is an evening news report about a flood in China and how the local government saves local people. The third one is the news report that was interrupted in broadcasting about a tornado in Southern Memphis and its damage. The fourth one is about a landslide in Seoul and its damage. All these news reports are short and concise, with key information like when, where, what, how and what more to come.
学情分析
本课所面对的是高一学生,他们在初中里只学过地震及地震中如何逃生,因此需要在听前帮助他们补充与各种自然灾害有关的词汇。另外,学生平时接触英语新闻的机会较少,对新闻的结构、语言特色等不熟悉,因此在要求他们能说新闻之前,必须帮助他们搭建好语言支架。
Teaching Aims:
After this lesson, the students should be able to:
语言能力:Know some of the serious disasters home and abroad in history;
语言能力Know the main points and the language features that news reports must have;
语言能力Use the typical expressions of news reports to report sudden natural disasters;
语言能力 imitate making a news report like the listening text
学习能力Predict and catch specific details in the listening text when seeing questions, including numbers, dates, times, addresses, activities, people or places, reasons, etc;
文化意识Realize how serious natural disasters could be and raise the awareness of reducing mortality in natural disasters.
