In this novel, Toni Morrison uses the writing technique of magic realism, adopting the literary concept of subjective realism and creating a real and unreal world by combining reality and fantasy. This paper will probe into the color of magic realism in Beloved comprehensively from the point of writing techniques, characterization and themes. The deep reasons for Morrison’s adoption of magic realism will be explored as well. The traditional black culture of Latin America, which is gradually engulfed by the white mainstream culture will be learned. The former glory of Latin America culture can be restored and the cultural diversity can be felt. Key words: Toni Morrison; Beloved; Magic Realism 《宠儿》的魔幻现实主义解读   摘要:《宠儿》讲述了一段奴隶制压制下黑暗的黑人历史。托尼·莫里森在《宠儿》中运用了魔幻现实主义写作手法,采用主观现实主义文学理念,将现实与幻想融合创造出亦真亦幻的情境。从魔幻现实主义视角出发,以写作技巧、人物塑造以及主题为切入点,全面分析《宠儿》的魔幻现实主义色彩,探讨莫里森应用魔幻现实主义手法的深层原因,了解逐渐被白人文化主流所吞噬的拉丁美洲的传统黑人文化,再现拉美文化昔日辉煌,感受文化多样性。 关键词:托尼·莫里森;《宠儿》;魔幻现实主义 Introduction   Toni Morrison (1931-2019), the first black woman who received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1993, is one of the most famous writers in American literature and enjoys a high reputation in the world. Toni Morrison is regarded as “the best writer working in America”(David, 2000: 69). As a black woman writer, she pays attention to the life of black people, especially the life of women. Her major works include The Bluest Eye (1970), Song of Solomon (1977), Tar Baby (1981), Beloved (1987), Jazz (1992), Paradise (1998) and Love (2003). Beloved won the Pulitzer Prize in 1988 and is Morrison’s most popular novel. When Beloved was published, it received critical acclaim. Critic John Leonard deems it a “masterwork”, a “splendid novel” that “belongs on the highest shelf of American literature”(Adell, 2002: 78).
